| Go into factory mode by keying in *#66*# on the key pad and select first option "version" then select first option "info summary". Also, did you say your phone has always been recognized by your pc with 3 options, or did you download a driver to get it to recognize the com port? | |

| Wow, sounds like you got kinda lucky and got a freak phone! If you got time and still have your original fw file, maybe you could put it in a zip file and post it here or a link to it on one of the file sharing sites. I, along with others would be interested in checking out the differences in the file compared to ours. Maybe just another step into hacking into this phone.

| What do you mean a freak phone? Do you mean hardware or software wise? I upgraded it from P168+ to P168C. If you mean the original FW file. I didnt back it up. I live kind of dangerous at times. Then it motivates me to find a solution faster. | |

| Freakish in the fact that the p168 only offers the two options of either usb or webcam. As far as I know the manufacturer has never released a driver for windows to see the phone as a phone, just a mass storage device. The original fw would have been interesting to compare with what we all have as standard fw. | |

| Oh sorry my laptop only saw it as those two things also. I misunderstood what you were asking. I added the drivers before for some thing about using PhoneTools over the USB cable so they were there before I ever tried to use Superman. | |

| OK then what software "Phone Tools" are you using? If the drivers you installed are able to open a com port to communicate with the phone, this is still possibably good news. | |

I used this firmware above for the p168c a few minutes ago. I used the flashtool 4.10 and now my p168+ looks like the 168c! I love it even more! I had tried the first version here of the p168c that tdink supplied but for some reason it didn't work for me. I downloaded the above version. It had more files and took longer to load but it worked for me. I still can use the tmobile older sim card but haven't gotten the att 3g to work yet. Still working on it.
Thanks Admin, tdink and everyone involved in this forum! I am almost there! Almost got my problem licked! This is a great forum!

| I think virdri already posted this link earlier in this same post. This is the same version I am running that does not see my ATT 3g card and it does not see my T-Mobile card either. I have a nice Ipod Touch LOL. ANyway. I am still trying to get my sims to work with this. Also my camera does not like this code either. | |

| Hi there! Yes, I knew it was posted earlier. That is where I got it. I only wanted to let others know that if the first one doesn't work to try this one. It did work for me.
My older Tmobile sim works fine. The games work fine, camera and all work fine. Only thing that doesn't work is the 3g sim but it wouldn't work before either. Now I have a new look and the touch screen is fantastic!
I don't know why the earlier firmware for the p168c didn't work but I never could get it too. This last one worked the first time I tried it.
If you get any answers to your problems, please post. Thanks for your reply!

Yes, this is how I did it. I have the cable I bought for 16.00. Shipping and all... The phone should be turned off. Before you start.... take your battery out a few seconds and put back in then connect to the cable.... I then opened the flash tools 4.10. Go up to options...click on "Baseband chip option" and uncheck that option.....Next click on scatterload, and clicked scat.txt, then hit download agent and clicked on MTK all in one, then clicked on ROM once and found the file p168c, then clicked download and the red on/off button on the phone. Took about 20 minutes. I unhooked it and turned it on. It was done... I did the first part of the video. Not the second.. Here is the video I used..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ucj2pvPpx6I&eurl=http://p168.forumotion.com/request-tutorials-f6/big-bad-problem-t32.htm I bought the cable from here. I got it in 2 days...!!!http://www.ipmart.com/main/product/China23,GSTARGM328,,Samsung,D900,,12Pin_2X6,COM,1,Cable,27108.php?cat=1206&prod=27108 Download the Flash tools herehttp://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4956b94f36a5551895af63b7d44918aaaa14a04105655bd1 Download the p168c files here.http://rapidshare.com/files/133362171/p168c_latest_version.bin.html GOOD LUCK!!!!

A superman and spiderman program, that's some serious action we got here! ;-) My phone also has an option to select a COM port during connection with my USB cable, i found some drivers for it and are not giving me an error, although, I am unable to flash my phone with either flashtools or "spiderman" Can you do me a favour and tell me what driver provider you have and version? Thanks:-)

| My fault. I meant I used Spiderman. I had just set Spedeman to com 1 and 115200. I het connect and it tells me to to press the on/off key. Once I press it for a few swconds it begins to flash my phone. | |

Ok, but what driver provider and version do you use for your COM port? Device Manager, right click the appropriate COM port and select Driver Tab, should give you some information about that. Thank you

| I do not use a driver. I choose com port1. It goes out the 9 pin serial port into my P168+ and connects to it. Just the same as when I configure a Cisco Router, Switch or Access Point at work. | |

| When I connect via my USB and choose the COM port (COM 4 for mine), my settings are:
Manufacturer: MTK Location: Location 0 (MT6227)
Driver: USB Modem Driver Provider: MTK Date: 07/11/2003 Version: 5.0.2153.1
